Symmetry’s 10th release – Break – They’re Wrong // Xtrah – Cyrax

Following the label’s 9th release in December, Break kicks off 2012 for Symmetry Recordings with They’re Wrong. Taking us back to his love of jazz and funk with its gripping melodic intro, the track continues to build with soulful guitar melodies reminiscent of atmospheric 80’s blues rock.

With little other warning than an intimate reggae-sourced vocal sample, Break captures us with ‘Theyre Wrongs funk-influenced bassline, complemented by the classic Break percussion, and as always he keeps you locked in as the track rolls through with sublime production.

Rising star Yasin Elgohary aka Xtrah carries on showing his skills in the studio with a great AA side Cyrax. Taking on more of a dance floor vibe, the track hits an unsuspecting listener with weighty, resolute bass and great step out drums. A superb heavy hitter from a name who is definitely one to watch in 2012.

CINEMATIC – SLEEPERS EP

The boys are back and after the launch of their imprint Icon Recordings (with support from the likes of John B, London Elektricity and Doc Scott to name a few), Cinematic are releasing their first EP this November. Putting their strengths to full use, the EP is packed with soulful, intimate, but still high-energy moments, making this a real treat.

With the combination of rolling drumbeats and stylistic synths, ‘Chain Reaction’s crackling power practically sets the dance floor on fire. Linking from one high to the next, Ed and Rupert’s harmonious personalities shine through, bringing ‘Chain Reaction’ to life.

Combing classic and contemporary drum and bass ‘Jungle Night’ takes a darker and more intimate turn than Cinematic’s previous release. Its hearty sound is individual and personal, showing these champion sounding duo’s remarkable production skills.

Bringing yet another new Cinematic sound to the table, ‘Sleepers’ has an acute introduction that’s met with elegant female vocals, creating a thrilling and gripping down tempo track. It’s remarkable, simplistic sound doesn’t indulge and is effortlessly crafted – making you want to listen over and over. These two are definitely ones to keep an eye on into 2012…

Warrior One AKA Carl Faure is set to release one of the freshest EPs that the bass scene has heard in a long time on Black Butter Records this Autumn.

With his strong Hip Hop influences and the scene itself, Warrior One produces nothing less than the biggest and best bass heavy music around.

Celebrating the 10th release of Neosignal’s full catalogue, Phace & Misanthrop have thought out something very special, big
and unique: six highly charged, truly diverse but equally strong tracks written by the scene’s hottest producers!
Being one of the most constant underground labels for bass music of these days, Neosignal, like it or lump it, sets the pace with
this conceptual release.

build-up of WHAT’S WRONG to the pure minimalism of MICRO ORGANISM (with Noisia) and the sonic delight of ENERGIE,
Phace & Misanthrop
demonstrate their utmost precision creating both exciting and fresh music. Their sound design is second to
none, and with all the energy their music transports they still manage to keep a strong focus on the essence of sound and
harmony.

On OUT OF FOCUS they even managed to get missing in action Spor back on track and on hearing tracks such as AMBOSS
and NO! (with Rockwell
) it’s not hard to see why Phace & Misanthrop are regularly featured in DJ sets of Andy C, Noisia,
Bailey, Friction, Pendulum and Goldie
right the way through to the likes of Alix Perez and D Bridge. Enough of the chatter,

New d&b label – MARS RECORDINGS

Ingredients Records, the label known for its niche sound in deep and wonderful drum and bass, proudly brings us a new label – . Mars will be bringing you styles much loved from the mid 90’s with a contemporary edge. Expect liquid and atmospheric drum & bass from both new and old producers, keeping up the high standards set by Ingredients.

The name ‘Mars’ emerged from the legendary night, ‘Speed’ at The Mars Bar in Charing Cross, which the older heads in the scene are sure to remember. Mars is launching itself with this double A side from dRamatic & dbAudio – ‘So Strong’ backed with ‘6 Degrees’.

‘So Strong’ brings a perfect summer vibe to the dancefloor. Soulful string chords assisted perfectly by the harmonious vocal sample lead you into the sub filled bassline complimented further by a trumpet lick. All in all creating a superb uplifting tone.

‘6 Degrees’ is a great accompaniment on the flip, carrying on the mood in style. With an abundance of sunshine atmosphere rolling out with rich piano stabs supported by euphoric synth pads, this is a real summer groove; a reminiscent sound with all the elements of old school soulful drum and bass.

Mars Recordings is the label to go to if you are looking for a fresh sound filled with personality and substance. Watch this space for more from this pioneering label. Preview the tracks below…
